IF YOU ARE NOT A MEMBER OR YOUR INFORMATION IS NOT IN OUR SYSTEM, PLEASE CREATE A NON MEMBER PROFILE WITH A PARENT AND THE CHILD/CHILDREN’S INFORMATION BEFORE CALLING TO REGISTER FOR CLASS.

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO SIGN YOUR CHILD UP FOR THE CORRECT SWIM LEVEL.  THE CLASSES ARE GEARED TO SPECIFIC INTRUCTORS AND WE WANT ALL CHILDREN IN THE GROUP TO BE AT THE SAME LEVEL.

Group Lessons:

Our group lessons match children of similar age an ability.  Theses have 3 to 4 students depending on the age group. Group lessons start at 3 years of age. These are $90 for members and $130 for non-members.  The costs are per child.

Classes are Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Each session is 2 times a week for 3 weeks.  The classes are half an hour long.

Parent and Me:

As for children under 3 years old, we do have a parent and me classes. These classes are split up between two age groups and are designed to have the child become comfortable with the water and develop swim readiness skills. The cost is $75 for members and $95 for non- members.

The 6 to 18 month class will be held on Saturdays at 10 AM. The 18 month to 3 year old class will be Saturdays at 10:30 AM. These classes are once a week for 6 weeks. The classes are half an hour long.

Private Lessons:

As far as private lessons go, we usually start those at 4 or 5 years of age depending on the child.  And those are set up depending on instructor availability.  They are 6   1/2 hour lessons.  The cost is $125 for members and $200 for non-members. Please email the Aquatics director for availability.  The Aquatics Director will need to register you for private lessons.

Welcome to the Cane Bay Family YMCA Swim Program
We want our classes to be a rewarding and fun experience for all. Please help us make that possible by adhering to the following suggestions and guidelines. We try to incorporate the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in everything we do, and we ask you to follow the same principles.

For the privacy of all those concerned: PLEASE DO NOT TAKE PHOTOS OR VIDEOS while in the pool area.

ATTENDANCE AND ATTIRE:
Please arrive at your class on time. Arriving late disrupts the flow of classes currently in session. Have swimmers ready in bathing suits and goggles. Have children use the bathroom before class begins. Please pick up promptly at the end of the scheduled class. No child 12 and under will be permitted to leave the pool deck unless their parent or caregiver is there to pick them up after class. Children 12 and under must be supervised by their parent or caregiver in the locker room at all times. Swimmers who are not toilet trained should have a swim diaper with elastic at the legs and waist. If swimmers have long hair, it should be tied back so that it will not get in their face during lessons.

OBSERVATION:
We encourage parents to be active participants in their child’s learning process, but we also ask for you to keep your presence during swim lessons to a minimum. Swim lessons are the perfect time for your child to explore their independence and confidence in a safe environment. There are certain instances where your presence can distract from your child’s ability to learn. In those cases, we may recommend parents utilize the bleachers located on the pool deck.

MISSED CLASSES:
We do not offer make-up classes for classes you are unable to attend.  If the YMCA cancels a class, we will schedule a make up date.

COMMUNICATION:
Please communicate honestly with us. We are committed to providing quality programs. If you have a question or concern, please consult with the Aquatics Director.
Please be advised, that the Aquatics Director and Swim Instructors have the ability based on their experience, to move your child to a more appropriate class based on your child’s ability.

Parent and Child (6 months – 3 years)

Accompanied by a parent, in a semi-structured format, toddlers become comfortable in the water and develop most of the swim readiness skills throughout the class. Children are encouraged in underwater exploration, floating on both tummies and backs.  They are introduced to safety skills, including climbing out of the water.

No disposable diapers, reusable swim diapers needed. The picture shown above is a cotton lining that’s soft to the touch and highly absorbent. This ecological friendly swim diaper is washable so your baby child can use it over and over again. Care and cleaning are as easy as running it through the washer and dryer. It’s available in various sizes so you can get the one that fits your child’s body. Bands at the waist and legs prevent leaks.
