At the YMCA of Greater Charleston, our Youth Sports programs promote healthy kids, families, and communities by prioritizing family involvement, healthy competition, and the value of participation over winning. We emphasize team building, and we encourage parents to be more than just spectators—they can contribute their time as volunteer coaches and team parents while being their child’s biggest fans! 🎉

🏀 2026 Berkeley Prep Academy Winter Basketball League

Get ready to dribble, shoot, and score at the Y!

We’re excited to open registration for our Winter Basketball League, in partnership with Berkeley Preparatory Academy, at the Cane Bay Family YMCA! These teams are reserved exclusively for currently registered Berkeley Prep Academy students.  Check out the details below:

📅 Registration Details:

  • Registration Dates: September 8 – December 7, 2025
  • Registration Fee: $90 per player
  • No late registrations will be accepted.

🏀 League Information:

  • Season Dates: January 2026 – March 2026 (subject to change)
  • Ages: 6-7 co-ed, 8-9 co-ed, 10-12 males, 13-15 males, 10-13 females

🕒 Practice & Game Schedule:

  • Practices: One weekday per week, after school at Berkeley Prep Academy
  • Games: Typically Saturdays and Sundays (schedule released 7 days prior to games)

📍 Game Location:

  • Cane Bay Family YMCA, 1655 Cane Bay Blvd., Summerville, SC 29486 *Games may also take place at BPA, MSE or another facility in Berkeley County depending on the needs of the program.

👕 Uniforms:

  • The YMCA will provide a jersey.
  • Participants must wear black pocketless shorts.

⚖️ Coaching:

  • Volunteer coaches are essential to our teams! If you’d like to coach, please indicate this during registration and visit our Volunteer Coaches Registration page for more info.

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • Metal earrings and other jewelry must be removed before games and practices.
  • All participants must be registered through the YMCA to participate.
  • Participants are placed in divisions based on age at registration.
  • Accommodation requests are only accepted during registration are only accepted during registration and are not guaranteed.

🏀 2026 YMCA Winter Basketball League

We’re excited to open registration for our Winter Basketball League at the Cane Bay Family YMCA! Check out the details below:

📅 Registration Details:

  • Registration Dates: September 8 – December 7, 2025
  • Registration Fee: $65 for members, $90 for nonmembers
  • No late registrations will be accepted.

🏀 League Information:

  • Season Start Date: Early January 2026 (Exact date TBD)
  • Ages:
    • Males: 4-15
      • 13-15 Division males will have an evaluation on Sunday, December 14th from 2:30 – 4:30pm.  There are no accommodation requests for this division.  Players will be evaluated and teams will be determined based on evaluation criteria.  If you are unable to attend on this date, please reach out to the sports coordinator at [email protected] to schedule a make-up time.
    • Females: 4-13
      • 10-13 females division may be structured in a game day shuffle format depending on the number of registered participants.

🕒 Practice & Game Schedule:

  • Practices: One weekday per week, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM (starts in January 2026, date TBD)
  • Games: Days TBD based on registered participants, typically Saturdays and Sundays. Schedules will be released 7 days prior to games.

  • Location: Cane Bay Family YMCA
  • Evaluation Details: Closed evaluation; only registered players and coaches are allowed in the gym.

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • Accommodation requests are not accepted for the 13-15 males division.
  • Participants are placed in divisions based on age at registration.
