Youth Sports

YMCA of Greater Charleston Youth Sports programs promote healthy kids, families, and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition, the value of participation over winning, and team building. Parents are encouraged to be more than mere spectators by contributing their time as volunteer coaches and team parents as well as being their kid’s number one fan. Our family branch specializes in a variety of youth sports from baseball, t-ball, softball, soccer, and basketball to volleyball, and flag football.

REGISTERED STUDENTS ONLY at Berkeley Prep Academy and Mevers School of Excellence can register through the school specified registration links for all youth programs.

2024 Summer Basketball-CANE BAY YMCA

Did you know that basketball was invented at the YMCA?  We love to share the love of this exciting and dynamic team sport with the community!

At the Cane Bay Family YMCA, our basketball league is developmental in nature.  We meet each player where he or she is and improve on his or her skills. Whether they’re ready to fast break or taking their first try dribbling, every young athlete will play and improve at the Y.

Playing team sports is an important part of growing up and teaches valuable lessons such as teamwork, responsibility, and sportsmanship.  Participating in youth sports has many benefits.  It helps develop socialization, gross motor skills, strength, endurance and self-esteem.  We look forward to learning and growing with you and your family.

INTEREST ONLY-YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED FOR A SPORTS AT THIS TIME.  THIS LINK IS TO EXPRESS INTEREST IN A 13-15 FEMALES AT THE CANE BAY FAMILY YMCA FOR SUMMER 2024.

We have received several emails with interest for a 13-15 females division for summer basketball.

In the past, the YMCA has attempted to create a division for this age group but we were unable to have enough registered participants to have a division.

We have opened this INTEREST ONLY registration option to see if we have enough interest to open a registration.  There are no refunds for youth sports so you will not pay until we know we have enough teams to field at least 3 teams of 8 participants (24 players).
