The Cane Bay Family YMCA Afterschool Program is where children continue to learn, grow, and thrive long after the school bell rings. As highlighted in our campaign, “The Place to Be After School,” our program provides a fun, safe, and supportive environment where students build friendships, complete homework, stay active, and discover new interests every day.

The YMCA Youth Development Department is committed to providing high-quality childcare that supports working families while fostering academic success, healthy lifestyles, and positive character development. Our program follows the Berkeley County School District (BCSD) academic calendar, ensuring families have dependable afterschool care throughout the school year.

YMCA Afterschool Program

Ages Served

• 4-year-olds enrolled in a Berkeley County School District CERDEP 4K Program
• Children ages 5–13

Transportation is available only through Berkeley County School District for eligible students attending:

• Cane Bay Elementary School
• Cane Bay Middle School

Hours of Operation

Please Note: Additional fees WILL BE ADDED for pickup after 6:00 PM.

What Parents Should Provide

To help your child have the best experience each day, please send:

• Refillable water bottle
• Weather-appropriate clothing
• Closed-toe shoes

Afterschool Tuition

Payment Policies

To ensure consistent program operations:

• Weekly and monthly tuition is due regardless of attendance.
• Cancellation requests must be submitted at least 7 days prior to the scheduled payment date.
• Accounts more than 5 days past due may result in suspension of services.
• Families experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to contact the Youth Development Director before payments become delinquent to discuss available options.

Child Information Requirements

The YMCA strives to provide a safe and successful experience for every child.

Before enrollment, families must notify the YMCA if their child has:

• An Individualized Education Program (IEP)
• Behavioral support needs
• Medical accommodations
• Requires one-on-one assistance

Attendance & Pick-Up Policies

The Afterschool Program concludes promptly at 6:00 PM each day.

Late Pick-Up

• Late Fee: $2.00 per minute
• Charges begin at 6:01 PM

Parents are encouraged to arrive on time to avoid additional fees.

Berkeley County School District Transportation

Transportation is available only for students within the YMCA transportation service area.

Primary Transportation Zone

• Cane Bay Elementary School
• Cane Bay Middle School

Transportation availability for additional schools may be considered based on Berkeley County School District eligibility.

Parents should contact their child’s school principal regarding transportation eligibility.

Transportation Requirements

To ensure transportation arrangements are completed:

• Select Cane Bay Family YMCA as the PM transportation destination during Berkeley County School District registration.
• Notify your child’s school that YMCA transportation is requested.
• Submit transportation requests at least 72 hours in advance.
• Transportation is not guaranteed until confirmed by BCSD.
