Summer Day Camp 2024

Campers at The Cane Bay Family YMCA will have the opportunity to explore nature, find new talents, try new activities, gain independence, form friendships, and create memories. Camp is available with weekly themed options that include S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities from June 3rd through August 2nd.  There are camp options for children ages 5 to teens.

 

If your child has exceptional health, behavior or learning needs, you must contact [email protected] prior to registration. Enrollment is at the sole discretion of the YMCA staff on a case-by-case basis. 

 

Regular camp hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Weekly Members (185.00) Non-Members ($255.00)

Payment Information: All payments are due 10 days before the start of the camp week. A non-refundable fee of $25 is required upon registration, which will be deducted from your weekly fee. This fee secures your spot !

Extended Day Option:  4:00pm-6:00pm (Cost: $50 per child)

* Sibling discount and extended day options available please contact the front desk. DO NOT REGISTER ONLINE. Register in the group under the age your child will be at the start of the session.

Weekly Themes:

Camp Dates: June 3 – August 2, 2024

June:

3-7: Soaring Into Camp: It’s a BIRD, it’s a PLANE!!! It’s time to fly into summer camp with some fun and
enrichment. Camp will kick off with learning about different types of flying objects. Planes, helicopters,
kites, birds, insects and so much more. Join us in learning about Aerodynamics.

10-14: Artful Antics: Ready, Set, “Van Gogh” or even “Picasso”!! The campers will explore their artistic
abilities. From painting, sculpting, theatrics, and acting!! Let’s have fun exploring the World of Art!!

17-21: Space is the Place: Planets, Stars and Aliens! What child isn’t intrigued by the wonders of the
universe? Join us as we explore the solar system, and all the unknown through unique challenges.
Get ready for a week of science-based camp activities. Rocket ships anyone?

24-28: Science Explorations: Full STEAM ahead….Are you a STEM-head?? This day will center around
prediction and comparisons as the children engage in various STEM activities and science experiments.
Science doesn’t have to be complicated, it can be fun, so Let’s EXPLODE, I mean….Let’s Explore!!

July:

1-5: Community Engagement: Let’s learn about “Philanthropy”!! It’s important to learn how to give to
others as well as your community. The campers will learn about community helpers, and how they can
become a Philanthropist. The campers will host a food and “slightly used toys” drive. The items
collected will be donated to a local charity to make a difference in the lives of others, especially children
who are in need. The campers will learn what it means to have “Love of Humanity”!!

8-12: Sports Extravaganza: This is the perfect specialty for active campers who enjoy the sillier side of
sports and just want to have a blast trying new things! Each day, campers will participate in a variety of
active and enjoyable games and activities. All a little different from what campers might expect.

15-19: Animal Kingdom: Lions and Tigers and Bears…Oh My!! Let’s navigate the animal kingdom.
Campers will learn how the animal kingdom is useful to humans, and how we contribute to their wellbeing. Various species of the animal kingdom will be explored. Come “Bee” a part of camp to learn
about the wildlife!!

22-26: Wacky Water Wars: Bring your water gear and let’s get super-soaked. This week will revolve
around various water activities. The campers will experience the wild side of water-themed fun. Rain or
shine, LET’S GET SOAKED!!

July/Aug:

29-2: Farewell Friends: Let’s celebrate the friendships created and the memories made. The campers
will participate in team-building activities that promote bonding and unity. We will end with a
celebration as we say farewell to our friends!!

The YMCA of Greater Charleston wanted to offer this program to help out parents that want their child/or children to participate in summer activities. We are offering a program catered to those parents who want the kids to experience Y camp, but don’t need a full week of services. Ages 5/6 and 9/10 would be able to attend on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am-12pm.  Ages 7/8 and 11/12 would be able to attend on Monday and Wednesdays from 8am – 12pm.  Parents would need to register the week before they would attend.  The cost of the program would be $100 for members and nonmembers.  We are not offering one day services or just one half day services. The fee is Non-refundable.
